This weekends trip could not have been any better. The weather was perfect with sunny skies and light winds.
In many locations a good solid breeze is ideal for fluke fishing but with the strong currents we have around
the Cape and Islands that was all we needed to get a good drift going. Lately we have been fishing 60- 70 foot
depths with a great showing of fluke up to 11 pounds and seabass to 5 1/2 pounds. We started the day off
with a 10.4 pound fluke on the first drift. As big as that fish was it was beat out on the second drift with an
11.2 pound fluke caught by Peter Kim of Melville N.Y. The action was good through the day and we wore out
most anglers. We made or way into the Nantucket Boat Basin, tied up and everyone headed for the showers
and dinner. At 3:30 AM we headed out at a slow bell for the fishing grounds. The second day was a repeat
of the first with fast action and nice size fish. Not as many of the big seabass as on saturday but still a decent
number. The big fish of the day was 10.2 pounds caught by Wayne Miedzwiecki of Staten Island N.Y.
A number of anglers have been asking about a late season two day fluke trip, we are working on a date .
